This collection was influenced by my personal nostalgic memories of London in the mid ‘90’s and the spirit of English eccentricity.
I lived and worked in West London and spent every Friday morning at Portobello Market delving through the eclectic vintage clothing stalls for new ideas or just something new to wear for the weekend.
References on my mood board include William Morris and Liberty prints, antique Victorian embroideries and lace, ‘40’s tea dresses, heritage plaids and traditional Rajasthani textiles. I’ve taken these mixed cultural inspirations and translated them with our original print and embroidery designs and implementing Indian artisanal
handcrafted techniques, into a cohesive, feminine and nonchalantly chic Fall / Winter ’16 collection.
The colours of this collection were inspired by William Morris and the British Arts and Crafts movement:
- Neutrals: Ivory, Milk, Black, Storm and Khaki
- Blues: Sky, Wedgewood, Serpentine and Indigo
- Purple shades in nature: Rosehip, Plum, Garnet and Heather
- accented with antique silver
Fabrics include sustainable locally woven soft brushed cottons and handloomed khaki, lightweight denim, hemp and organic cotton corduroy, handprinted silk, Tencel (a biodegradable eco-fabric made from wood pulp cellulose) and luxurious Alpaca knitwear from Peru.
