Resort 2015

Resort 2015 is a focused collection in the true feeling of resort: beachy, relaxed, practical and chic. Modern, artisanal updates on classic styles were a key idea. The colour palette is predominantly ivory, black, navy and blush with hints of lemon, tan and cherry.

I’m constantly inspired by nature and my Laurel Canyon studio surroundings:

The “Hummingbird” and “I Love LA” embroidered tee designs I sketched from life in my back garden. These are my hand-crafted interpretations of classic graphic / rock tees.

The “Morning Glory” floral hand-embroidery with stripes is dip - dyed. I work with a local solar-powered dye house who use innovative methods of dyeing with low impact dyes that are friendlier to the environment.

The “Sashiko” embroidery was influenced by Japanese Sashiko folk stitching, which is a form of decorative re-enforcement and mending using a basic hand running stitch. A traditional form of “up-cycling”. I then designed the “Zig Zag” embroidery using the same running stitch, updating the stripe on a classic Breton Top.

The “Dotty” and “Linear” embroidery groups with the tiny pintucks, eyelets and faggoting are inspired by traditional Broderie Anglaise and English Victorian lingerie / undergarments that I collect.

All fabrics are certified 100% organic cotton voiles with washed silk.
